Swoon Quilt

swoon quilt

I finally finished my Swoon quilt. I purchased my fabrics in March 2014 (that's 2 years ago - thank you Instagram), and started making blocks later that year.

Then it sat. And sat. And sat.

I finished up the quilt top about a year ago, then it sat. And sat. And sat some more. The All People Quilt UFO 2015 Challenge helped me get my WIPs in order and accounted for. I can't say that I actually quilted and bound it the month I was supposed to, but at least it's done.

Here I am showing the almost bound quilt off at the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild meeting - best shot I have of the back:

Quilt Details:
Pattern: Swoon (the original one with 24" blocks) by Camille Roskelley
Fabrics: Prints are mostly Anna Maria Horner, Hand Drawn Garden. Colored Solids: Solid Mochi Linens by Moda. The tan background fabric: unknown - just a random bolt at a fabric store but it mimics a hand tea died fabric.
Quilting: Modern Twist by Patricia Ritter. Quilted on my Handi Quilter Fusion Pro-Stitcher.

And just a quick shout out to all the quilt husbands/holders/managers out there. It's a tough job.

Mother's Day 2015 Mini

I made this little mini quilt for my mom - a mother's day gift. I know everyone is legally required to say their mom is the best, but for reelz...my mom really is the best! I am one lucky gal to call her my mom and friend.

All of these half square triangles are left over pieces from my Swoon quilt (top done, not quilted, not blogged about yet). Fabrics are from Anna Maria Horner, Moda Linens, Alison Glass, and some random tan colored fabric. I'm pretty sure I squared them up to 2.5 inches, which would make this little guy 16" square.

You know I love you when I bust out my old Alison Glass prints...

A few in progress shots....I used a Sulky Blendable thread.

My Brother 1500s made quick and easy work of the straight line quilting. Seriously l.o.v.e. that machine.

Last look at the finished mini...

Hug your mom!

x plus + anna maria horner + cotton and steel

My first finish of 2015 (hopefully one of many)! The pattern for this quilt is called Perfect Union by Pat Bravo from American Patchwork and Quilting February 2014 (click here for more info).

How cute are those quilt buddy feet and fingers?!

I used a fat quarter bundle of Anna Maria Horner's Dowry line and peppered in a variety of solids from my stash.

The back is a linen Cotton and Steel print - perfection! It calmed down the busy front, yet the arrows have all the colors spotted throughout.

Finished this one off with a "quilted label." I'm terrible at making labels, so I figured this was better than nothing!

I love this shot before washing - it shows off the quilting nicely. This was a digital pattern called Harbour Wave (found here) by Patricia Ritter/Urban Elementz. I let my Handi Quilter Fusion ProStitcher do the work....and I think it turned out beautifully.

Happy Stitching!

Urban Candy Quilt - and My First Quilt Label

This past weekend my wonderful, beautiful, amazing, kind and generous mom turned 60! And for the record, she doesn't look or act a day over 45. I wanted to make something special for her, and I knew she would love the Urban Candy quilt pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful.

This quilt uses Anna Maria Horner's Crush line. Gorgeous colors that popped on this Essex Linen fabric from Robert Kaufman.

Quick Curve Ruler Sew Kind of Wonderful

For the quilting, I left it simple and just did some straight lines, which I think enhance the curves on this one. Plus, I wanted this one to be super cuddly so I avoided heavy quilting.

Quick Curve Ruler Sew Kind of Wonderful

My first quilt label - so proud and it is like a birthday card she will always keep =)

And for the backing, I used an old Art Gallery print I had in my stash. My mom's favorite color is yellow, and the Art Gallery fabric have such a great soft feel to them, they make the perfect backings.

The pattern was easy enough to follow. I will definitely be making another quilt using the Quick Curve Ruler.

Didn't quite have enough of the backing, so I added in a piece from the Crush line - loved pieced backings!
